JONAS WOODS

Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer

 

Mr. Woods is responsible for the development and execution of investment strategies.

 

Prior to forming Woods Capital, Mr. Woods was President of Hillwood Capital, where he was focused on both direct and third-party joint venture investment opportunities. Mr. Woods joined Hillwood in 1994, and in a 13-year career at Hillwood held multiple executive positions including Vice President Finance, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and President.

 

From 1999 through 2007, Mr. Woods led Hillwood Capital, Hillwood’s opportunistic investment group. During his tenure at Hillwood, Mr. Woods was responsible for underwriting, structuring and managing over $2 billion in real estate transactions in multiple markets, including Texas, California, Florida, Wyoming, Hawaii and Costa Rica. He also led the seed equity investment into Hawkeye Partners, a real estate private equity firm focused on identifying and investing with emerging investment managers on behalf of leading institutional investors. Mr. Woods was a principal in the acquisition and management of the Dallas Mavericks and led the team’s disposition to Mark Cuban. He also led the financing strategy for the construction of the American Airlines Center, the arena for the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars.

 

Before Hillwood, Mr. Woods was an analyst in the Media and Communications Group at NationsBank (now Bank of America). While there, he assisted in underwriting and syndicating debt commitments in excess of $3 billion.

 

Mr. Woods graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.

JOHN HELTON

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

In addition to being responsible for the daily operations of the company, Mr. Helton is responsible for oversight of the underwriting, structuring and negotiating of potential transactions and oversees the asset management of existing investments.

 

Previously, Mr. Helton was President of Hillwood Investments where he was responsible for deal origination, structuring, and negotiation, as well as portfolio risk management. During Mr. Helton’s tenure at Hillwood Investments, he participated in both the acquisition and disposition of real estate assets of various property types, including residential, hotel, office and industrial. His responsibilities also included management of a $215 million separate account.

 

Prior to Hillwood Investments, Mr. Helton was a member of the Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging group within the Investment Banking division of Bear Stearns. While at Bear Stearns, he represented both public and private real estate companies in mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings.

 

Mr. Helton graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Mr. Helton also received a Master of Business Administration degree with high honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

WILLIAM PREWITT

Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer

 

Mr. Prewitt is responsible for the oversite of development and redevelopment efforts, technical building operations, and supporting the execution of new investments.

 

Previously, Mr. Prewitt was an Associate with Hillwood Investments, where he assisted in raising a $215 million separate account and the placement of $1.2 billion worth of real estate investments across multiple product types. Prior to joining Hillwood, Mr. Prewitt spent three years as an analyst in the energy and natural resources investment banking division of Bear Stearns. While at Bear Stearns, Mr. Prewitt completed 39 transactions totaling $14.7 billion.

 

Mr. Prewitt graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.

JOHN RUTLEDGE

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

 

Mr. Rutledge is responsible for the accounting, finance, investor relations, and human resources functions as well as the execution of financing transactions on existing investments.  

 

Prior to joining Woods Capital, Mr. Rutledge was an Assurance Manager in PricewaterhouseCooper’s Asset Management Practice in Dallas. As an Assurance Manager, he provided assurance services to a variety of asset management clients, both public and private, including REITs, private institutional partnerships, and various real estate funds in both the US and Japan.

 

Previously, Mr. Rutledge was a Senior Associate in PricewaterhouseCooper’s Financial Services Practice in Tokyo, where he had the opportunity to work with many international Financial Services and Real Estate companies and worked to incorporate best practices from the US into the Japanese firm.

 

Mr. Rutledge is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Master of Accountancy degree and Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University.

ASHLEY BECKER

Vice President

 

Ms. Becker is responsible for asset management of existing investments and the execution of new investments.

 

Prior to joining Woods Capital, Ms. Becker attended Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas. While at TCU, Ms. Becker was awarded the Andrews Honors Scholar in Finance upon fulfillment of upper-divisional honors research in Finance. In May 2010, Ms. Becker graduated Magna Cum Laude from the M.J. Neeley School of Business and the John V. Roach Honors College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate.

ALYSSA STACEY

Vice President and Controller

 

Ms. Stacey is responsible for leading the accounting, audit and reporting functions of Woods Capital Property Management.

 

Previously, Ms. Stacey was an Audit Manager in Grant Thornton’s Real Estate practice in Dallas. As an Audit Manager, she provided assurance services to a variety of real estate clients, both public and private, including real estate investment trusts, property management companies, and various lodging, commercial, residential and industrial real estate entities. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Ms. Stacey spent three years as an accountant in the property accounting department of Milestone Management.

 

Ms. Stacey is a Certified Public Accountant and received her Bachelor of Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Dallas.

MORGAN EVANS

Accounting Manager

 

Ms. Evans is responsible for executing the accounting, audit and reporting functions of Woods Capital Property Management.

 

Previously, Ms. Evans was a Senior Associate in PricewaterhouseCooper’s Real Estate Practice in Dallas. As a Senior Associate, she provided assurance services to a variety of real estate clients, both public and private, including real estate investment trusts, and various domestic and international real estate funds.

Ms. Evans is a Certified Public Accountant and received both her Master of Accountancy degree and Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma State University.

PATRICK SESKER

Project Manager

Mr. Sesker is responsible for performing due diligence, financial modeling, carrying out industry research, assisting with office leasing and overseeing capital improvement projects. 


Prior to joining Woods Capital, Mr. Sesker worked as a consulting engineer at Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City. While at Burns & McDonnell he worked within the Energy, Oil, and Gas divisions. As a consulting engineer, he managed international construction contracts, assisted energy utilities in maintaining federal regulation compliance, and served as a University Ambassador for prospective engineering students.
 

Mr. Sesker received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kansas.

MEGAN MCDONALD

Senior Accountant

Ms. McDonald is responsible for executing the accounting, audit and reporting functions of Woods Capital Property Management.

 

Previously, Ms. McDonald was a Senior Associate in KPMG’s Real Estate and Asset Management Practice in Dallas. As a Senior Associate, she provided assurance services to a variety of real estate and asset management clients, including real estate investment funds, federal banking and municipal specialty finance.

 

Ms. McDonald graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with her Master of Accountancy degree and Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

DIEGO CACHO-SOUSA

Analyst

Mr. Cacho-Sousa is responsible for underwriting, financial modeling, performing diligence, and conducting industry research. 


Prior to joining Woods Capital, Mr. Cacho-Sousa attended Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas. While at TCU, Mr. Cacho-Sousa was a  TCU Scholarship recipient and a member of the Neeley School of Business Dean's List.
 

Mr. Cacho-Sousa graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance.
